Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our students by sharing their time, talents, and experience. Review the opportunities to learn how you can get involved and make a difference in our school community.
Parents are invited to come on campus during lunch to be a presence for students. After checking into the office and being assigned to an administrator, parents provide additional adults on campus at lunch to: visit with students, participate in activities, and be visible.
Parents with an hour or more are encouraged to donate that time to the office staff to assist with clerical-type activities that support students and staff.
Parents who can donate an hour or more of time are encouraged to check the list and choose a project to complete. Some projects ask parents to offer assistance in the classroom with projects or labs. All work supports students and staff.
The Glen Cove PTA works hard to provide support for activities at Glen Cove. This is made possible through the funds raised to support the work. Parent assistance with fundraisers is always appreciated. Please contact the PTA with any questions or concerns regarding PTA fundraisers.
Parents play a vital role in supporting Glen Cove through the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Run entirely by volunteers, the PTA helps organize events and provide resources for students. Review the ways you can get involved.
Review the role of the School Site Council (SSC) in guiding Glen Cove’s educational planning and accountability. As required for California K-12 public schools that receive categorical funds, the SSC develops, approves, and monitors the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

Parents and guardians are always welcome to visit at Glen Cove, but certain guidelines must be followed to ensure a safe and productive environment for students. Review the following school procedures carefully before planning your visit.
Review your child’s emergency card carefully to ensure all information is accurate and up to date. Keeping addresses, phone numbers and emergency contacts current helps us protect your child’s health and safety.
If a student becomes ill at school, a school official will notify the parent/guardian and ask that the student be picked up. Students who are ill should report to the main office or nurse’s office and remain there until they receive permission to leave with an authorized adult or are sent back to class. Parents or their designee should make it a point to pick up their child within a reasonable time frame.
Review the guidelines for students who may need medication during school hours. Parents and guardians must follow district procedures to ensure medications are safely administered at school.
Students injured at school or during a school-sponsored activity must report immediately to the staff member in charge, who will notify the main office or nurse’s office. Proper care will be given, and an accident report will be made and kept on file. Parents will be contacted and advised. Please keep a current daytime phone number on file at school for this purpose.

No person shall be subjected to discrimination on the basis of sex, ethnic group identification, race, national origin, religion, color, sexual orientation, or mental or physical disability. Any student making discriminatory and/or derogatory remarks of a racist nature will be subject to suspension.

Physical searches authorized by the principal or designee may include clothing, book bags, and/or other property belonging to or being used by students. (Education Code 32280–32289, 35160, 35160.1, 48900–48927, 49050–49051, 49330–49334).

Help us keep our campus clean and safe for everyone by following lunch and cafeteria expectations. Review the guidelines to make sure you know the rules and privileges that keep our school looking its best.
No class changes will be made during the first three weeks of school, except for administrative purposes. Parents and students who want to change a child’s teacher must first hold a meeting with the child’s current teacher. This meeting is to discuss concerns and allow the teacher the opportunity to address them before a change is requested.
Every student who attends Glen Cove is asked to sign a Computer Use Agreement form with parental consent. Computer use is limited to software and internet access approved by site personnel for school purposes. Misuse of equipment, software or internet access violates the agreement and will result in the withdrawal of technology access. Accessing confidential student records may violate federal or state law and can result in prosecution and/or expulsion from Glen Cove.
To help keep Glen Cove’s campus clean and safe, gum and sunflower seeds are not allowed before, during or after school hours. Students who bring these items may face disciplinary action, such as campus cleanup.
Review the fundraising rules before planning any sales on campus. Students and clubs must receive clearance from school administration, and failure to follow guidelines may result in confiscation of items and disciplinary action.
The school provides nutritious lunches for students following state guidelines. Applications for free or reduced-price lunches are available in the Attendance Office. Students are expected to show respectful, responsible behavior and problem-solving skills in the cafeteria and food line.
Bringing personal sports equipment (including but not limited to basketballs, baseballs, footballs, and soccer balls) on school grounds is prohibited. If seen or used on campus, they will be subject to confiscation, with return only to the student’s parents. Additional consequences may be assigned.
Students may not bring unauthorized visitors onto campus without following school visitor protocol. Younger children, friends and relatives are not allowed. Students are trespassing if on another campus during school hours without permission (Ed Code 13448.5; Penal Code 653G, 628.8).
Review the campus safety guidelines before bringing wheeled items to school. For everyone’s safety, bicycles, skateboards, scooters and similar items have specific rules and restrictions that must be followed.
Only parents and listed guardians may contact students during school hours. Any items being delivered (money, food, clothing, etc.) must be checked into the main office before they can be delivered to the student. Any items given to a student without prior approval may be confiscated and returned at the discretion of the administration.
Glen Cove offers a variety of special education programs designed to assist students with special needs, as determined by an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). For more information, contact the school psychologist at Glen Cove or the VCUSD Special Education Office.
Students should not bring valuables, including electronics or large sums of money, to school. These items are sometimes lost, damaged or stolen, and the school will not investigate claims nor be held responsible. Please contact the office to inquire about any lost and found items. At the end of each month, all unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
Every student has the right to a safe learning environment free from harassment or discrimination. Review the district’s complaint procedures to learn how to report concerns and protect your rights.
Homework helps students build skills through consistent practice, much like other scheduled activities. To support families, the district provides clear guidelines on expectations and flexibility. Review the VCUSD Board Policies regarding homework.
